The Centre for Rights Education and Awareness (CREAW) has opened applications for Women’s Voice and Leadership (WVL) Project funding.
The non-governmental organisation (NGO) seeks to strengthen institutional capacity and interventions of local/grassroots women rights organisations that empower women and girls to realise their rights and achieve gender equality.
Benefits
- Successful applicants will each receive $15,000 for an initial two-year grant
Eligibility
- Open to small, emerging grassroots women and girls groups, gender nonconformists, PLWD, PLHIV organisations with little or no access to funding from larger donors
- Applicants must be women’s rights organisations that have women as directors/heads
- Organisation must have a core focus on promoting the socio-economic and political rights of women and girls and gender nonconformists
- Organisations must be non-government, non-political and not-for-profit entities
- Organisations must have existed for at least one year
- Organisations must have active boards of directors, governors or advisors and at least half of the board members must be women or gender nonconformists
- Organisations must have at least two to three staff, volunteers, or members who are women or girls or gender nonconformists
- Applicants must be organisations that target women and girls or gender nonconformists as the main beneficiaries
- Applicants must be organisations that can demonstrate, through their activities and actions, a belief in the full realisation of women and girls’ empowerment and gender nonconformists
- Organisation’s current mission, values, and the profile of the activities that it is currently implementing must be focused on addressing gender inequalities
- Main focus of the organisation’s activities and results must be aimed at making systematic changes to sustainably improve women and girls’ life, and gender nonconformists including by engaging men and boys
- Organisation must provide evidence of formal existence
- Organisation must provide proof of previous work done around women’s rights
