Assistant Programme Officer

Cooperazione Internazionale (COOPI) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Assistant Programme Officer.

COOPI responds to the needs of the most vulnerable populations, including refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs), through an integrated WASH, food security and livelihoods and shelter approach.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in defining the programme strategy and assist in the coordination of COOPI Niger interventions
  • Ensure monitoring of the implementation of current projects
  • Monthly monitoring of projects in cooperation with project managers, the monitoring and evaluation manager and administration
  • Assist project managers in supervising the correct financial and logistical management of the project in collaboration with the administrator and the logistician
  • Facilitate and contribute to the capitalisation of COOPI projects in Niger
  • Contribute to the preparation and writing of quality project reports in line with donors’ contractual rules
  • Maintain good relations with the implementation partner and local, civil, traditional authorities and the community for the successful completion of the project
  • Collect lessons learnt and implement case studies to facilitate future programming and strategic directions
  • Propose and organise ad hoc training (project cycle, monitoring/supervision, financing procedures, internal COOPI tools, etc.)
  • Carry out any other task necessary for the proper functioning of the programme requested by the programme manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the international cooperation sector
  • Two years of experience in the humanitarian sector in programme management and/or coordination
  • Excellent reporting skills
  • Excellent command of French and English essential
  • Ability to work under pressure, within short deadlines
  • Strong ability to work in an intercultural context
  • Sense of organisation, management and planning
  • Ability to work in a team and in a multicultural context
  • Good negotiation skills and habit of interacting with members of community, religious and state authorities at different levels
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a very difficult context, under pressure, in an environment that is often uncomfortable and unstable in terms of security
  • Excellent management of stress and isolation
