Chemonics is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Deputy Chief of Party.

Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day guidance, mentoring, and problem-solving support to project in full partnership with the chief of party and the project’s country team
- Assist the chief of party to develop programme strategy and annual workplans
- Ensure compliance with USAID regulations and Chemonics policies
- Provide quality assurance as well as supervision and direction to project staff
- Work with key government and non-governmental counterparts to identify priorities and resolve development and implementation challenges in a fast and effective way
- Serve as a member of the senior management team, contributing to team leadership decisions, providing expertise on programme and grant-making strategy, and serving as acting chief of party
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Management, or a related field
- Experience with USAID operating procedures, regulations, and reporting requirements, highly preferred
- Extensive project management leadership experience, including applying collaboration, learning, and adapting (CLA) principles, knowledge management and communications, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning
- Proven ability to work effectively with government representatives and other stakeholders
- Knowledge and experience in training and facilitation
- Experience working in South Sudan and/or other conflict states preferred
- Experience in employing adaptive and flexible implementation approaches and scenario-planning in fragile operating contexts preferred
- Eight years, minimum, of relevant senior-level professional experience
- Four years, minimum, of experience managing conflict-sensitive, market systems-based agriculture development, food security, and/or resilience projects
- Readiness to relocate to Juba, South Sudan
- Fluency in written and spoken English
