Chemonics is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Chief of Party (CoP).

The mission of Chemonics is to promote meaningful change around the world to help people live healthier, more productive, and more independent lives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall direction, oversight, and implementation of programme activities in compliances with USAID regulations and Chemonics policies and procedures
  • Serve as the primary liaison with USAID on strategic, managerial, and technical matters
  • Lead efforts to collaborate and coordinate with other USAID/Mozambique projects, local organisations, the government of Mozambique, and other key stakeholders
  • Ensure quality control and overall responsiveness of technical assistance provided under the contract, including programme results and deliverables
  • Professionally represent Chemonics at meetings involving USAID, local government counterparts, private sector associations, civil society organisations, or other key stakeholders
  • Ensure relevant, productive, and complementary activities are coordinated and leveraged effectively
  • Provide guidance to senior technical staff

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Education Planning, Public Policy, Management and Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • 15 years, minimum, of experience in a relevant management, supervisory, or technical role, with ten years, minimum, in a management/leadership position
  • Ten years, minimum, of experience in the education sector in sub-Saharan Africa (desirable)
  • Programme/project management experience working with rural, ethno-linguistic underserved populations
  • Experience in project design, policy dialogue, strategic planning and implementation, education reform and national-level quality improvement and classroom reforms
  • Experience and knowledge of capacity building and professional development (preferred)
  • Experience in managing evidence-based early grade reading programme (preferred)
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with government officials, non-governmental organisations and other donors
  • Leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Proficiency in written and spoken Portuguese and English
