The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (CentreLSD) is seeking applications from eligible consultants for the role of Community Development Agreements (CDAs) Researcher.

CentreLSD is a leading national non-governmental organisation (NGO) and think tank in Nigeria registered to build strategic leadership for sustainable development in Africa.

The organisation, with support from Ford Foundation, is covering Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Kogi, Taraba, and Sokoto states for the CDA study.

Responsibilities

  • Review of best CDA models from select countries in West Africa, and strategies for the sustainability of community development projects arising from CDAs
  • Highlight the proportion of mining and quarry companies with working CDAs – time of development – before, during and after mining operations
  • Focus on the efficacy of CDAs in transferring social and economic benefits to mining host communities – level of representation of women, persons with disabilities and other marginalised groups in the preparation and implementation of CDAs
  • Note the impact of mining operations on livelihood and land use and how commissioning and decommissioning of mining pits expose women to economic violence
  • Highlight lessons of functional CDA models from other climes
  • Address the adoption and adaptation of a gender-sensitive CDA template for Nigeria

 Requirements

  • Evidence of similar work executed within the last two to five years
