BudgIT has opened applications for the role of State Officer for its Tracka project.

BudgIT is a leading public data organisation focused on raising active citizens and civic leaders to improve governance by bridging the information gap between the government and citizens.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective tracking of federal and state government projects and programmes as contained in the budget
  • Conduct advocacy sensitisations on the budget process, implementation, and audit in communities
  • Produce 360o impact stories in communities – from needs assessment advocacy to implementation and impact stories
  • Unearth and investigate fraudulent activities and under-delivery of public projects for media dissemination and advocacy
  • Participate in media programmes to discuss findings from the field projects and findings
  • Participate actively in the production and dissemination of Tracka stories, among others
  • Represent BudgIT at events and happenings
  • Implement programmes and duties as assigned by BudgIT
  • Build, manage, and moderate the community champions initiative to build a sense of belonging and ownership, ensure positive engagement, resolve issues, and foster a supportive and inclusive environment for advocacy on public issues
  • Carry out any other responsibility requested by the organisation.

Requirements

  • OND, HND, or bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or a related field
  • Three years, minimum, of experience working in the civil society space
  • Relevant experience in community mobilisation and engagement
  • Interest in the governance and civil society space is a big plus
  • Experience working in networks and building strong working relationship
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Excellent monitoring and evaluation skills
  • Excellent understanding of government budgets and execution process
  • Excellent community engagement and mobilisation skills
  • Ability to engage media and government stakeholders effectively
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Word, Google Doc, Microsoft Office packages
  • Fluency in English, with excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
