Apply: BIEA Thematic Research Grants

The British Institute in Eastern Africa (BIEA) has opened applications for Thematic Research Grants.

The research projects must focus on one or more of these thematic areas: epidemics, pandemics and epizootics; citizens and science, knowing environments; technologies of politics; urban lives; and retelling the past.

Benefits

  • Grants are normally between £500 and £1,000, but in exceptional circumstances, up to £1,500 may be awarded

Eligibility

  • The researcher must have limited access to other sources of funds
  • Applicant must be early career researchers and scholars in eastern Africa or the UK
  • Applicants must be postgraduate students or students who have not followed conventional research careers but whose local knowledge or contacts make them well-fitted to conduct high-quality research
