African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) has announced a call for applications for the 2021 Cohort of the One Planet Fellowship.
The One Planet Fellowship seeks to build a vibrant, highly connected, and intergenerational network of African and European scientist leaders equipped to lead next-generation research focused on helping Africa’s smallholder farmers adapt to a changing climate.
The second call, which closed on 31 March, 2020, attracted 903 high potential scientists working on a wide range of agricultural topics.
Benefits
- Selected applicants will participate in an intensive, three-year non-residential, career acceleration process to foster leadership skills
- Participants who complete the three-year process will become One Planet Laureates
Eligibility
- Open to citizens of Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo, and Zambia
- Applicants must be 40 years of age or younger by February 15, 2021
- Applicant must have master’s degree, minimum, or equivalent in any discipline relevant to climate change with a focus on agriculture and food systems
- Applicant must reside in Africa and be actively engaged in research, policy, and/or practice relevant to climate change and Africa’s smallholder agriculture
