The African Union Commission (AUC) is seeking to fill the position of Head, Policy Organs Division.

The African Union is a continental body consisting of the 54 countries that make up the African continent.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the outcome of meetings such as decisions and reports are properly finalised and disseminated
  • Ensure the follow-up on meeting outcomes
  • Prepare statements, reports/conclusions and other relevant tasks as required for consideration and vetting by the secretary to the commission
  • Provide support in ensuring good working relations between the PRC and the commission
  • Provide support in coordinating the implementation of the coordination mandate of the office of the secretary to the commission
  • Provide advice and support in matters relating to the management of the office of the secretary to the commission
  • Perform any other relevant duties within the office of the secretary to the commission, as may be assigned

Requirements 

  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences or a related field with 12 years of relevant work experience (seven of the 12 years should be at managerial level with five years, minimum, of supervisory exposure)
  • Proven experience in policy formulation
  • Relevant experience in international public organisations is a plus
  • Ability to initiate and promote collaborative approaches among geographically and culturally disparate partners
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relations both internally and externally
  • Ability to develop and delegate clear programme goals, plans and actions, including budgets, consistent with agreed strategies
  • Ability to effectively lead, supervise, mentor, develop and evaluate staff
  • Capacity to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure
  • Computer literacy
