The African Development Bank (AfDB) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Projects Management Specialist.

AfDB’s mission is to spur sustainable economic development and social progress in its regional member countries (RMCs).

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the implementation, monitoring, supervision and production of reports of public sector operations within Financial Intermediation and Inclusion Division (PIFD1)
  • Support the PIFD1 team in the day-to-day interaction with projects implementation units (PIU), including budget and disbursement monitoring, procurement plans management, financial and evaluation reports follow up, monthly and quarterly reports management, project annual work plan management, audit reports management, etc
  • Collaborate with an extended multidisciplinary team on the activities undertaken in the PIFD1 division
  • Perform any other tasks required in the management of existing projects or other PIFD1 activities

Requirements

  • Masters’ degree in Business Administration/Management, Economics, Project Management, Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
  • Seven years, minimum, of relevant experience spanning project management in a commercial, investment or development bank environment
  • Familiarity with ADB or any other MDB procurement and financial management skills and sound knowledge of public-sector projects, including financial inclusion and payment systems issues
  • Familiarity with markets in the various African regional economic blocks, namely, AMU, CEN-SAD, COMESA, EAC, ECCAS, ECOWAS, IGAD and SADC, and a deep understanding of the financial sectors in these regions
  • Advanced writing capabilities and fluency in English and/or French
  • Ability to speak and write/read in Arabic will be a plus
  • Three years, minimum, of proven experience with multilateral development bank-funded projects
