ActionAid Nigeria is seeking to fill the position of Monitoring, Evaluation, Reasearch and Learning (MEL) Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and guidance in meeting the MERL requirements of the Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA II) Nigeria project at all levels
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to implementing partners on all monitoring and evaluation components of the SPA II project; as well as develop strategy and expertise on the summary results framework, key milestones, and monitoring and evaluation plan for the project
  • With support from the SPA II project advisor and ActionAid Nigeria’s impact assessment and shared learning manager, ensure that the project team works in compliance with the project’s monitoring and evaluation frameworks and systems

Requirements 

  • First degree in Social Sciences or Arts/Humanities
  • Experience working with youths, youth groups and organisations (desirable)
  • Three years, minimum, of experience in monitoring and evaluation with particular emphasis on governance/youth-related programmes in the development sector
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative monitoring and evaluation skills and familiarity with the range of approaches and methods deployed in the development sector with a focus on youth programme monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience in the use of various monitoring and evaluation tools and statistical software programmes such as KoboKollect, POWERBI, SPSS, STATA, NVIVO
  • Experience in community-based work and use of various participatory monitoring and evaluation tools
  • Experience in project management
  • Excellent working knowledge of data information systems as well as Excel, Word and Outlook (MS Office in general)
  • Extensive knowledge of reporting procedures, best practices, guidelines, and tools for monitoring, evaluation and learning, including impact evaluation
  • Experience working with international development organisations
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills
  • Experience in facilitating training and meetings
  • Excellent skills in programme information management
  • Excellent planning and prioritisation skills
