African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Programme Officer, Agribusiness.

AATF is an international not-for-profit organisation that facilitates and promotes public/private partnerships to promote food security and enhance livelihoods of smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa.

Responsibilities

  • Support the agribusiness development manager in conducting baseline and feasibility studies, and drafting concept notes, business plans, market and impact assessment for all AATF projects
  • Assist in project management and coordination including financial reporting to ensure attainment of set milestones
  • Ensure coordination and implementation of agribusiness development activities, and action plans within AATF projects
  • Assist in the identification of training needs and in organising agribusiness training for project partners as deemed appropriate
  • Assist in the creation of market access and linkages
  • Provide administrative and technical support for any assignments required by the agribusiness unit and other PDC managers
  • Ensure coordination and implementation of agribusiness development activities, and action plans within AATF projects
  • Contribute to the design of strategies to strengthen AATF presence in sub-Saharan Africa

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics or any other related and equivalent discipline from a recognised institution
  • Five years, minimum, of experience in agricultural value chains
  • Documented experience in conducting baseline feasibility studies, market and impact assessments
  • Experience and knowledge in various agricultural technologies
  • Proven experience in linking farmer businesses to diverse types of markets
  • Proven experience developing training programmes for smallholder farmers
